At Fragrances for Good, collaboration has always been a big part of how we work — and how we stay inspired in an industry that’s constantly evolving.
Recently, I spent some time with Helen Crawshaw from Helen Crawshaw Search at the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS) The Future of Formulation event in Coventry. It was one of those catch-ups that reminds you why relationships in this industry matter so much. Stepping away from screens and getting together in person gave us space to properly talk, reflect, and share what we’re both seeing across the fragrance and beauty world right now.

Although we work in different parts of the industry — Helen a specialist in fragrance & flavour recruitment and myself in fragrance strategy, sustainability, and brand direction — there’s a lot of overlap in the conversations we’re having with clients and how to stand out in a crowded market. We spoke about how AI, digital platforms, and emerging technologies are changing the way businesses operate, but also about how important it is not to lose the human side of what we do.

For me, what really stood out was the value of having trusted industry peers. People who understand the nuance of fragrance, who can offer honest perspectives, and who are there to sense-check ideas, challenges, and opportunities as they arise.
Our meeting was also a reminder that some of the most rewarding professional relationships are built over time. They evolve from colleagues to collaborators, and often into genuine friendships. And, as ever, some of the best conversations happened alongside a good laugh and a well-earned cup of soup at M&S.

As we head into the holiday season, I’m feeling especially grateful for connections like Helen. For the chance to collaborate, to learn from one another, and to be part of a supportive, thoughtful fragrance community that continues to move the industry forward.
Here’s to more conversations like this in the year ahead!
